San Carlos Children’s Theater is presenting Disney’s High School Musical, Jr. on the virtual stage January 29 at 7:00 pm and January 30 at 1:00 pm. Tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can/sliding scale basis.
Be sure to catch the 33-actor middle school cast bring this Disney Channel hit movie musical to life as they portray the students of East High who deal with issues of first love, friends, and family, while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities.
Filled with high-energy, sing-along songs, such at We’re All in This Together, What I’ve Been Looking For, and Stick to the Status Quo, the soundtrack for the movie that celebrated it’s fifteenth anniversary this month has hit #1 twice on the Billboard 200 and has been certified quadruple platinum.
Fun fact: Original movie and sequels Director and Choreographer Kenny Ortega (movies Newsies, Hocus Pocus, St. Elmo’s Fire, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Dirty Dancing and concert tours for Cher, Gloria Estefan, Hannah Montana and Michael Jackson) is a Bay Area native and attended a local high school where he was very active in the drama department.
