Reflection

To move ahead, it's helpful to know where I am.

New Year's Day for me has routinely been a time for me to dream. To look far, far ahead into the future and make plans for 'someday'. Being a creative person, I feel like I'm always on the look-out for the next big idea or personal challenge. I don't come out and say it, or even actively think it, but in retrospect, I feel like I'm always thinking that the coming year could be so much better than the previous year. Even if the previous year was a good one!

Tweak and correct

This year was different for me. Rather than looking so far ahead, I'm realizing that what I've currently got going on in my business life has pretty much been working for me. I just need to tweak a little bit, make a few slight corrections and just do more of what it is that has been moving me ahead in my business.

Moving ahead

I think that sometimes, when we are right in the middle of things, we can't really get a good perspective. We are just busy with the day-to-day-ness of keeping a business afloat. Rather than looking for new ways to improve, it may be more beneficial to look at what is working and do more of that!!

As I reflect on this past year, and contemplate moving ahead in the coming year, I'm realizing that looking ahead isn't the only way to build a business, or to keep life fun and exciting. Sometimes, just pausing and really looking at where I currently am standing and really looking at myself and what I'm doing, may be the best way for me to move ahead.
