Embracing and Reflecting on Life's Big Moments and Milestones
My daughter recently got married to a lovely young man who she has known for a few years now. They met through mutual friends and we couldn’t be happier, both with having him as our only son-in-law and also in seeing how happy they both are together. I literally have never seen my daughter smile more in her life! Well, except for when she used to 'Meet & Greet' the Disney Princesses, but I mean since she was 12 years old.
Embracing the Journey
Nothing makes a parent happier than seeing their child looking happy and settled. Noticing that glint in my daughter's eye is just icing on the cake. It’s almost as if I feel like I can take a deep breath and relax. I didn’t realize it at first, but I’ve noticed that I am feeling more settled, with just life in general.
Reflecting on Milestones
I think business is the same way. The feeling settled part. Whether it’s being consistent by getting back into blogging on a regular basis, spending time everyday scrolling and commenting on Instagram and being in a routine of posting regularly, encouraging others, making connections, and sharing posts on LinkedIn, or actually only reading personal Facebook posts from people I really care about and forcing myself to scroll through all of the others, I feel like I've put in the work on some aspects of my business and can consider, if even for just a moment, how my efforts so far are paying off.
It feels good to be comfortable with certain things, like when you know that you have put in the work, or in the case of my daughter, the love.
Life in general isn't always easy, so when the Big Moments and Milestones come along, it's important to stand back for a moment and take it all in. Reflect on where you have been, where you are now, and think about how you plan on moving forward.
Now, after my daughter's wedding, our entire family is thrilled to have added our new son-in-law to our 'tribe'. Even if I had gone to Central Casting myself, I could not have picked a more perfect person for my daughter, which has now allowed me to get to this major milestone in my own life.
A milestone that I have been wishing for, and dreaming about, for a long, long time.
